Report of Early Response Disaster Team in Waterloo, Iowa;
June 30-July 5, 2008

The Southern Minnesota EDRT trailer arrived at St. Paul's UMC in Waterloo, Iowa Sunday evening with the first five team members. During the week others arrived; peak was 12 team members on July 4 with 6 members finishing the last of seven houses on July 5.

Members present were: Don Anderson, Phyllis Kerr, Rod Hanson, Diane Hanson, Bob Lange, Sharon Bloome, Darrell Bloome, Phil Parsons, Al Rickert, Miriam Rickert, Ken Fineran and Tanya Oberg.

First three houses, assigned by World Hope International team already in Waterloo and doing a good job of triage, were in New Hartford about 15 miles west of Waterloo. First was a basement for an older couple, power washed and sanitized on Monday afternoon. Second was the entire first floor of a house on crawl space whose owner was injured emptying out the house and is scheduled for surgery on his hand. This was completed on Wednesday with the third project being removal carpeting from a mobile home.

Thursday were assigned two houses in Evansdale and one in Washburn, all east of Waterloo; these three houses needed power washing and sanitizing with a fair amount of removal of basement materials from one of the three. All three were completed in one day, splitting the team with the two power washers.

Final house was in Waterloo just south of the Cedar River. Entire team of 12 spent a full day (Friday, July 4) removing material from the basement and 6 finished removal and power washing and sanitizing on July 5.

Respectfully submitted,

Donald E. Anderson

Team Leader
