St. Pauls was honored to have a special guest at 1st Wednesday worship,
April 6, 2011.....Ben Franklin!!!
This was Al Ricks, dressed as Ben Franklin, for "MoneySmart" 1st Wednesday worship--all St. Paul's and MAPLES Neighborhood where invited.
Lady he is speaking with is Geraldine Brown, who lives in our neighborhood, and has been active in MAPLES a long time.
"Ben" was teaching us how to be smart with our money. We had a great meal, and then Pastor Sheryl shared a message with proverbs from Ben Franklin, and God (book of Proverbs from the Bible), and Jesus' teachings on proper place of money and possessions in our lives.
A lot of people chimed in. A good time was had by all.

St.Paul's receives "Governor's Volunteer Award"
Members of St. Paul's United Methodist Church pose for a picture with Iowa Governor Chet Culver after receiving a Governor's Volunteer Award at Gallagher Bluedorn Auditorium on the UNI campus in Cedar Falls Thursday, July 22, 2010. These people only represent the many members of St. Paul's who have shared their church as a hosting site for Disaster Response volunteers from all over the country since the Storms of 2008. They also have hosted many public meetings and training sessions, been a place for Operation Threshold and other groups whose facilities were affected, and have been involved in the founding of a COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) for Black Hawk County.
L-R Front: Reverend Mike Campbell, Reverend Sheryl Campbell, Iva DeSmidt and Teresa Savage. L-R Back: Tina Evans Dykstra, Jon DeSmidt, Skyler Savage and Governor Chet Culver. Teresa and Skyler Savage are volunteers from UMC churches in and near Galva, Illinois hosted by the church. (BRANDON POLLOCK / Courier Staff Photographer)

Sunday, Oct. 3rd we had a visit from a PET (Personal Energy Transportation) Representative. PET is a faith-based volunteer-powered, humanitarian and world-wide 501c3 organization. Its goal is the gift of mobility for all of God's people in need. For more info go to PET.
Fun time at St.Paul's Mother-Daughter Banquet, May 1st.
Thanks to UMC Men's Club for the delicious meal
that was also served by the men.
And Thanks to "Squeeze Box Ministries" of Garwin,
